Queensland police have uncovered a sex slave ring in Mount Gravatt East, Brisbane.

A Brisbane man and woman name Matthew James Markcrow and Crystal Marie Sawyer have been arrested after police discovered they were "conducting a business of unlawful prostitution."

Four female victims, aged between 17-24, were rescued by police at the Mount Gravatt property.

Police suspect the women and underage girls were recruited via social media and given stupefying drugs so Markcrow and Sawyer could manipulate them.

The victims were also tattooed with the words, "Property of Matt. M" on their bodies.

During the arrest police also found drugs and recordings of the couple's "clients" allegedly sexually assaulting the victims.

Detective Inspector Juliet Hancock is the officer-in-charge of the Prostitution Enforcement Taskforce; she says she never expected to see such "horrendous" crimes in "Australia, let alone Brisbane."

"I’ve been a police officer for 30 years, I’ve not seen this type of offending before," she says,

"it’s pretty hard to shock police; this is confronting."

Hancock believes there are more victims that have been exploited by the abusive couple.

"I encourage them {the other victims} to come forward and contact police," she says.

Mr Markcrow remains behind bars and has been charged with 10 offences.

Meanwhile his partner Ms Sawyer has been charged with only two offences and has been granted bail.

Both Markcrow and Sawyer are expected to reappear in court later this month.
