- DEMI LYNCH -
Most of you may have heard of MamaMia - Australia's largest independent women's website.
Only a few years ago MamaMia founder Mia Freedman decided to branch out the network into the world of podcasting.
Now with over 50 million downloads and more than 20 programs the MamaMia Podcasting Network has become the biggest women’s podcasting network in the world.
One of MamaMia's most popular podcast programs today is "MamaMia Out Loud."
Last year it was voted most downloaded society and culture podcast of 2017 on iTunes.
Mia says although podcasts can be an incredibly engaging medium, she found that it can be incredibly isolating which made her decide to take MamaMia Out Loud on tour.
You don’t get to hear when people laugh or when they don’t laugh. I suppose it’s like being an actor acting in a movie compared to on stage. (On our tours) we can get to interact with people and get the live reaction. We can tell when their attention is drifting or when they’re engaging and leaning in.
One of Mia's other passions is supporting female entrepreneurs across Australia.
Late last year she started the Lady Startup Instagram account to help promote other businesses run by female entrepreneurs.
I’m just so stoked there are so many women running their own businesses of all shapes and sizes. There are just so many women with so many business ideas.
Lady Startup has branched out into a podcast on the MamaMia Podcasting Network and now will be going on tour.
Mia hopes that by using her platform she can help women learn the ins and out of starting a business.
We compare our real lives to other women’s highlight reels so I want to pull back the curtain and say hang on you may know my highlight reel but let me show behind scenes and my real life.
Mia Freedman will be coming to Brisbane for her Lady Startup Tour 8th November at The Old Museum.
