An Oklahoma Christian school is being accused of discriminating against an 8 year old girl.
Last week 2nd grader, Chloe, was expelled from Rejoice Christian School after she told another female student she had a crush on her.
Chloe's mother, Delanie, told CNN the vice principal took Chloe out of class for several hours to lecture her about same-sex relationships and how the "Bible says women can only have children with men."
“The vice principal asked me how do I feel about girls liking girls and I said if we’re being honest, I think it’s okay for girls to like girls and she looked shocked and appalled,” Delanie says.
She told the vice principal she is raising her family to not judge and love whomever they want.
The day after the incident the superintendent called Delanie - he said her beliefs didn't align with Rejoice Christian School and requested her family leave the school.
He told her the school needed to "end their partnership" with not just Chloe but her entire family.
This meant that Chloe's 5 year old brother would also be expelled from the school.
"I was so blindsided. I was angry, hurt, betrayed, sad... so many different emotions. I just couldn't believe it," Delanie says, "I asked him (the superintendent) to have a sit down meeting to discuss it and process it better and he refused, saying that 'nothing more needed to be discussed.'"
Delanie says she furious her children were kicked out of the elementary school but says she's very appreciative of the love and support shown by the community.
This past week Chloe has received hundreds of letters, gifts and cards from strangers across America expressing how proud they are of her and, assuring her she is loved by them.
"Chloe's feeling so loved and supported now because of so many amazing people that have reached out to us," Delanie says, "she's excited for a fresh start at a new school."
